Ecological thought and the roots of sustainability
This site connects philosophical perspectives, the sciences and ways of inhabiting the world to address ecology and sustainability. Its axis is socio-ecological resilience and the biocultural diversity of Brazilian territories — on the wager that reconnecting society, nature and economy depends as much on theory as on the people who live in those places.
The research behind the site examines ecological and evolutionary thought: its historical roots, what happens to it when it meets other ways of knowing and inhabiting the Earth, and how it applies to socio-bioeconomies and socio-ecological governance.

Rafael Luís Galdini Raimundo
Professor in the Department of Engineering and Environment at UFPB, where he coordinates the Graduate Programme in Ecology and Environmental Monitoring (PPGEMA) and the IDEAL International Joint Laboratory, in cooperation with IRD (France). Biologist trained at UNICAMP, PhD in Ecology from USP.
